NMHBA: Empowering Hispanic Legal Professionals since 1978
Since its founding in 1978, the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association (NMHBA) has been a beacon of support for Hispanic legal professionals and students. Comprised of dedicated volunteer attorneys, the NMHBA is unwavering in its mission to promote diversity in the legal profession.
Empowering the Community at Every Stage
The NMHBA’s commitment to the community is evident at every stage of a student’s journey into the legal world. From middle school through law school, the association offers various programs that shape the future of aspiring legal professionals. Here are some key initiatives:
- Summer Law Camp Program: Introduces middle school students to legal concepts and principles early on, fostering their interest in the field.
- Mentorship Programs: Support for law school students through mentorship opportunities, guiding them towards a successful legal career.
- Scholarship Programs: A cornerstone initiative that provides financial support to deserving law students, helping them overcome financial barriers. The scholarships range from aiding first-year law students to assisting with textbook costs and bar exam fees. These scholarships are distributed by the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Foundation.
